AssociateRobert D. Trzynka
Robert Trzynka graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Sociology in 1998. Over the next ten years, he developed software for the financial industry. During that time, Robert received a Masters in Information Systems from Dakota State University. Robert obtained a law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2011. While in law school, Robert was a member of the Trial Team, where he and his partner defeated Harvard Law School’s team at the American Bar Association National Criminal competition in Chicago, Illinois.
Robert joined the firm in August, 2012, after working for Abourezk Law. While at Abourezk Law, he worked on a Montana case that resulted in a $34.25 million plaintiff’s verdict, which is the largest in Montana’s history. The South Dakota legislature has since expanded the powers of the South Dakota Division of Insurance to combat the abuses uncovered in the Montana case.
Robert is also one of a handful of South Dakota attorneys to win a medical malpractice trial. In April, 2015, Robert obtained a jury verdict for the estate of a Yankton resident whose doctor ignored signs consistent with increased risk for severe stroke. The defense hired three experts to dispute the doctor’s negligence. Nonetheless, the jury agreed with Robert’s argument that the doctor acted negligently in her treatment of Robert’s client.
Robert’s practice primarily focuses on litigation matters, including personal injury and insurance bad faith, and he is a licensed vaccine injury attorney under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. He is also interested in e-Discovery and the use of technology in the law.
