Trinette R. LaFleur
Trinette LaFleur grew up in North Sioux City, South Dakota. At sixteen, she moved to Interlochen, Michigan to attend Interlochen Arts Academy where she received her degree with an emphasis on dance. Trinette received a Bachelor of Arts in dance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude in 2008. After college, she moved to Los Angeles, California and performed in a professional modern dance company, Donna Sternberg & Dancers from 2009-2011.
Trinette moved home to South Dakota to pursue her law degree in 2013. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota in May of 2016, graduating second in her class and with Sterling Honors. While at law school, Trinette was the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships including the McKusick Scholarship, the Harvey C. Jewett IV Writing Award, and the Joseph N. Spencer III Memorial Student Writer’s Award. She received the Dean’s Certificate for Outstanding Performance in several of her classes. Trinette worked for her family’s business throughout law school.
Trinette served on the Law Review Board and was Copy Editor for Volume 61 (2015-2016). Trinette was an active member of OUTLaws and Women in Law, serving as the Treasurer for the OUTLaws for 2015-16 school year. She participated on the Trial Team and was fortunate enough to represent the University of South Dakota and the OUTLaws at the prestigious Williams Institute Moot Court Competition.
Trinette held a clerkship with Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties following law school. She joined the firm as an associate in 2017.
